Daniel Brewer - Managing Director
Daniel is the founding director of Resonance Limited. Having spent several years in manufacturing as an engineer and leading a political lobbying campaign on the UK poverty trap, he founded Resonance in 2002. Since then he has led the growing team supporting social enterprises and charities prepare for investment on a variety of transactions including real estate acquisition and development, community share issues and direct venture capital investments.
He is also a non-exec of a small number of high impact social enterprises and sits on the investment committee for a leading impact investor foundation.
Simon Chisholm: Investment Director
Before joining Resonance, Simon spent 16 years in a number of roles with N M Rothschild & Sons in the UK and internationally. Latterly as a Director with the company he provided advice to senior managment teams on finance raising and strategic transactions predominantly in the infrastructure and energy sectors, and has also managed corporate teams through periods of rapid change. He has first-hand experience of social enterprise and impact investment through 4 years as a Non-exec Director for a pioneering London-based homelessness charity.
Bob Paterson: Finance Director
Bob is a social finance expert with 40 years of professional experience. His former roles include 14 years as Senior Visiting Research Fellow Community Finance Solutions at the University of Salford, where he led the development of several innovative developments in the field of community property finance, including founding Community Land & Finance CIC in 2008. Prior to this, he held the positions of Finance Director and subsequently Managing Director of Portsmouth Housing Association, which he built-up with over 5000 properties, assets of £25m and 100 employees. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and was elected as an Ashoka Fellow in March 2008.
John Williams: Investment Manager
John has over 10 years experience within the investment arena, having spent the majority of his career working within the investment & corporate banking sector within the City of London, specialising within investment appraisal for such deals as management buy outs, mergers, acquisitions and property investment. John holds a BA Hons degree in Business & Finance, the Investment Management Certificate and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
Chris Wood: Investment Manager
Chris has wide-ranging experience in business start-up, development and management. He has held positions as Director and campaigner with various organisations seeking innovative and impactful growth strategies such as the Open University, Common Purpose and Friends of the Earth. He has also run his own business consultancy.
Sharon Gorman: Financial Controller
Sharon qualified as an accountant in 1995 and is now a fellow member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. After moving out of practice, she worked for several international companies, mainly in the construction and manufacturing industries. More recently, this included 4 years as the Financial Director for a group of companies specialising in the manufacture and construction of sustainable homes within the affordable property market.
Shirley Hooton: Project Coordinator
Before joining Resonance, Shirley's most recent experience was in the retail sector, having held regional and national retail sales and project management roles for a global energy business. Previously she worked in the third sector as a fundraising manager for a national charity for 6 years, and she has also run her own businesses, including property development and management.
