Mustard Seed Property launches new share issue
08-02-2011Mustard Seed Property launches today its second community share issue appealing to the public to support its aim to provide more choice of supported accommodation for adults with learning disabilities in Cornwall. This is one of a growing number of opportunities across the country for people to invest in sustainable solutions in their own communities .
Mustard Seed Property already has one property in Helston which has provided supported accommodation for up to 5 individuals since late 2007. It runs this in partnership with local charity Mustard Seed, which runs the Open Door cafe in Helston and national charity Prospects, which provides the domiciliary care for residents. They originally came together in response to requests from a number of families affected by learning disabilities to provide them with supported accommodation.
Franklyn Moyle, Chair of Mustard Seed Property, commented:
"Despite what we have achieved over the last 3 years, we recognise there is room to improve the building for the benefit of the tenants and also to broaden the range of options for people needing supported accommodation."
One current investor said:
“I know of parents who, with increasing age, are struggling to cope with their adult son or daughter and their learning difficulties at home, and other individuals are living alone without the support they need. It’s good to know that my money is providing positive options for vulnerable adults and still gives me a comparatively reasonable return on my investment .”
