Workspace option for social entreprenuers at Launceston
27-01-2011
Launceston social entrepreneurs now have a flexible and affordable workspace option in the form of a local work hub on St Thomas Road.
Resonance Ltd,. a local company helping social enterprises nationwide to secure investment, launched the hub last year. WORKSPACE @ resonance operates on a membership basis, with tariffs from just £20 per month. Facilities include WiFi, VOIP phone, virtual office and private meeting room.
Use of local work hubs or hot-desking is growing in popularity across the South West as organisations and individual entrepreneurs recognise it offers a practical, sustainable work model. Daniel Brewer, Director, says "We realised that all sorts of people could benefit from having access to professional workspace facilities, both to provide an economical work base and meeting place and to enjoy a more sociable working environment, where they can engage with other like-minded entrepreneurs and share ideas and experiences."
Since launching WORKSPACE @ resonance last Spring, membership is growing steadily. Jon Middleton, a local smallholder and entrepreneur, was one of the first to sign up. "Coming to Resonance helps me focus without any distractions on what I want to achieve. The office space has everything I need and the staff are helpful, friendly and professional."
Shirley, coordinator of WORKSPACE activities, expects the service to develop in the future: "As numbers grow, our intention is to find more ways of adding value for members. We are currently trialling monthly networking lunches and also plan to hold workshops on topics requested by our members."
Resonance believes this model could be replicated in several other locations across the South West and that operators could be encouraged to collaborate to offer members a network of hotdesking locations.
