Mustard Seed buy first house
Oct 9, 2007 --
Helston based charity Mustard Seed has this week completed the purchase of their first house in the town to support people with learning disabilities. Mrs Jackson the former owner was thrilled that her home of 35 years was going to be used for such a worthwhile cause.

Local people have bought shares in Mustard Seed Property Limited to facilitate this, and the local authority has confirmed that they are intending to procure support services from Prospects, the chosen domiciliary care provider at this house.
CEO of Mustard Seed and local councillor Derek Thomas said:
“We have always been confident that we were doing something that is greatly needed and financially viable. We are very grateful for the support we have received and the money people have invested. This is a great start, but we know it is just the beginning.”
The new house will provide a home for five vulnerable adults who are currently either
living in inappropriate accommodation or receiving an inadequate level of support. 15 people and their families have expressed interest in being supported by the Mustard Seed / Prospects partnership, who are already eyeing up the next few properties that could help meet the needs of these individuals.
Daniel Brewer, Director of Resonance Limited, the financial intermediary assisting
Mustard Seed Property, said:
“We are really encouraged by the £160,000 but our target remains £300,000 to help us buy the next property. The directors have decided to extend the share offer to 1st Feb 08 and reduce the minimum investment threshold to £1,000, directly in response to people wanting to invest but not having the £3,000 original minimum. ”
