Resonance launches new Social Enterprise Property Investment Fund
Jan 5, 2010 --

Resonance has established a new Property Investment fund (SEPI) to assist social enterprises in achieving a step change in their growth and  help provide security of tenure and financial stability for their operations. The fund will identify social enterprises that need to expand or develop and structure a property investment around them, freeing up the organization's resources and giving them the ability to respond to unmet needs more rapidly than when dependent on traditional debt borrowing or grant funding.

The three main focus areas of the fund are:
·         homelessness
·         education
·         sustainable community development

Typical projects might include supported housing for adults with learning disabilities, businesses employing people at risk of homelessness, schools providing education for those with specialist needs, inclusive activity centres aiming to integrate the elderly or different cultural groups into local communities, or accommodation achieving sustainable environmental improvement for local neighbourhoods.

The Fund offers opportunities for investors interested in supporting high-impact social or community projects and enables them to spread their risk across a varied property portfolio with the potential for good commercial returns.
