Daniel Brewer is a social entrepreneur with a particular focus in helping people and institutions to engage their wealth with their values. Having spent several years in manufacturing as an engineer and a year leading a political lobbying campaign on Housing Benefit, he founded Resonance in 2002, a financial intermediary specialising in helping ‘social enterprises’ raise risk capital from values-led investors. Resonance is currently raising a £20m Real Estate Venture Capital Fund focussed on tackling homelessness, improving education opportunities and developing sustainable communities. He co-leads the joint venture Equity Plus which runs the Cabinet Office sponsored Social Enterprise Angel Network. He is a consultant to many diverse social enterprises helping them prepare for investment and has been a non-exec of a number involved in recycling, fair trade and tackling homelessness.
Peter Dawe,OBE. Internet entrepreneur and social business angel. Peter Dawe is one of the great internet innovators and entrepreneurs. He created the first UK internet service provider and developed it into a multi-million pound multi-national company. He subsequently exited the company, selling his equity stake and as a high net worth individual, now pursues a wide range of private investment activities. In addition to this, Peter continues to be involved in a number of businesses that are at the forefront of developments in internet technology offering unique voice and video services. Peter also has a significant track record of investing in social enterprises, particularly those working in areas of tackling homelessness and unemployment. These have included a social enterprise tile manufacturing business in Norfolk. He has also structured several innovative investment deals including underwriting and guaranteeing security for several social enterprises, which has enabled them to secure additional finance they have needed to grow to the next level, most notable for 'Party in the Park' on behalf of the Prince's trust.
Shirley Hooton is Development Coordinator for Resonance. Shirley's most recent experience is in the retail sector, having held regional and national retail sales and project management roles for a global energy business. Previously she has worked in the third sector having spent several years as a fundraising manager for a national charity, and has also run her own businesses, including property development and management.
Steve Watson is an Associate with Resonance. He possesses a wide span of practical and academic experience in social housing, project management, organisational change, strategic direction and risk management. MBA qualified, Steve’s early career focused on the development of affordable housing schemes. Over the past decade, he has progressed into organisational leadership, serving on the management teams of several housing associations; two as MD and most recently as Group Chief Executive.
